On July 6, the Kickoff Meeting (KOM) of the project “RE-WRITE: Resources for Education in Writing Radio Plays to Inspire Transition into Creative Employment” was held online due to the COVID-19 emergency.

The KOM was a great moment of sharing and confrontation, made possible by the organizational ability of the project coordinator and the active participation of the European partners, characterized by different experiences and backgrounds.

The RE-WRITE project stems from the need to address the issues of social exclusion and unemployment, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a context where unemployment is not equally shared, affecting harder the marginalized groups; the arts industries are the most economically damaged, with the need for digitization of content and the consumption of creative audio content on digital platforms has significantly increased.

The aim of the project is to promote the development of digital skills and encourage entrepreneurship, by promoting social inclusion through creativity and the arts. Actually, during the project, a series of creative non-formal learning resources will be developed and tested; it will be useful in order to increase adults’ digital skills and cultivate artistic talents, by increasing high quality learning opportunities for unemployed and marginalized adults within the cultural, creative and audio digital sectors.

For this purpose, the partnership proposes to develop the following Intellectual Outputs:

IO1: A series of podcasts to expand the specific skills and competencies needed in the European creative/digital sector, particularly in creating, writing, and recording podcasts.

IO2: An online learning resource to deepen the needs of employers and recruitment processes in the arts/cultural sector.

IO3: An online learning resource with the purpose of conveying innovative usable methods for marketing one’s creative and digital work on social media, by creating sustainable self-employment and by promoting entrepreneurship in the creative/digital sector.

The KOM started with a brief presentation of the partnership organizations, moving forward to a general introduction of the project and the related organizational plans to develop the Intellectual Outputs. The development of the Outputs is crucial to allow the groups targeted by the project, above all unemployed/ marginalized adults and adult educators, to improve access to the audio/digital labour market and offer deeper understanding and ongoing professional development to adult educators seeking to support their users; They want to convey what they learn to other marginalized and socially excluded groups, creating a broad network for the exchange of ideas and models.

Over the next few months, the partners will meet for a discussion, getting to the heart of the project and beginning to structure preliminary research activities.
