FROM A GOOD CONFISCATED TO THE MAFIA, INTO A SOCIAL, CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC REGENERATION PLACE
“Uditore” district, outskirts of Palermo. The building in via F. M. Alias, 20, was a warehouse which later became a property confiscated from the mafia and now is a multipurpose center for social inclusion and cultural regeneration, active at local and international level.
RISE – LAB, Network for Inclusion, Development and Empowerment is the name of the generative incubator of interventions aimed at promoting inclusion and social cohesion, cultural innovation and the active participation of individuals and communities, practicing the culture of the common wellness, meeting point and lifelong learning through artistic expression.
A building confiscated in a neighborhood battered by mafia practices thus becomes a place for vindication and practice of the rights of the community, which makes people with fewer opportunities protagonists, as well as the whole social community.
ACTIVITIES AND PARTICIPATION SPACES
DANCE AND MOVEMENT WORKSHOPS
Dance and movement workshops are organized as moments of body expression, sharing and enhancement of diversity.
The Rise – Lab acts as the driving force behind guerrilla art initiatives for the neighborhood. It is also a space for international gathering and training of artists and associations with a cultural background.
RADIO AND MUSICAL EVENTS
The ANG in radio – CEIPES Youth is in the air web radio was born from a multicultural group of young people for young people. Part of the national ANG radio network, it involves European volunteers with the “Resilience Youth” section.
EXHIBITIONS AND GALLERIES
The exhibition hall is open to exhibitions and shows especially with social inclinations.
THEATRE AND CINEMA
In the Pocket Cine-theater we can accommodate films, theater workshops and small independent companies with an audience of up to 80 seats.
The STEM Lab with its “Additive Manufacturing” technologies is proposed as a training and innovation center. In this place, people interested in the world of 3D printing can develop functional design prototypes.
