One Goal – For the first time in Uruguay for the second women’s football campaign

The second international Women Football Campaigns (WFC) organized during the One Goal project took place in Montevideo – Uruguay, on 22 and 23 February 2022.

One Goal project aims to enhance skills of women football coaches and to create a methodology on training methods and psychological aspects to be used by interested sport staff.  Delegations, consisting of 3 representatives – 2 women football coaches and 1 project manager – from each partner country, met at Regency Way Hotel in Montevideo to spend two days together in the name of women empowerment through sport and teamwork.

During the 2 WFC all the participating coaches from different countries listened to the experience of Lourdes Viana, captain of Peñarol, one of the most famous football teams in Uruguay. Lourdes told the coaches how difficult it is to be a football player or coach in Latin America and shared her entire growth path in the world of sport. Subsequently, the coaches from the different countries of the consortium formed mixed teams and developed a technical strategy for the championship. On February 23, all the matches of the first One Goal championship were held. The coaches have coached and led Uruguayan women’s teams in several matches. These girls and women, with various backgrounds in the world of football, have really appreciated the guidance of experienced coaches and the language has not been an obstacle to their communication at all. The participating women had fun and were able to learn new technical and tactical skills and at the same time share good practices. Finally, coaches, project managers and football players all ate lunch together on the football  field and spent some free time together for the amazing Montevideo. The whole consortium also attended a Peñarol beach footbool match in the rambla of Montevideo, an evocative experience. The feedback from the participating girls and women was extremely positive and this experience was enormously enriching for them.

The second WFC also served as a transnational partner meeting for PM to supervise the implementation of the activities and discuss the next steps of the project.
