As part of the IRTS – Integration of Refugees Through Sport project, an online transnational meeting was held due to the known reasons for the restrictions imposed by the current pandemic.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the coordinating organisation, SORGED – SORGUN GENCLIK DERNEGI (TURKEY), and representatives of the partner organisations, CEIPES – INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR THE PROMOTION OF EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT (ITALY), UCAM – FUNDACION UNIVERSITARY SAN ANTONIO (SPAIN), and KARGENC CLUB – KARASU GENÇLIK, SANAT VE SPOR KULÜBU DERNEĞI (TURKEY).

The consortium has agreed to meet periodically online to observe the progress of the project in order to face off the impossibility to meet physically.

In this phase of the implementation, the partnership, after having completed the collection of quantitative and qualitative data on the integration of migrants through sport, thanks to the questionnaires given to trainers, coaches, sport teachers and people with migration background, is proceeding with the analysis of the data in order to provide accurate statistics and publishing a summary article containing information on integration needs, skills improvement and adaptation of people with migration background in sport.

The consortium has already started to work on the next steps, i.e. the collection of good practices and insights on different issues (coaching and mentoring, digital skills for sport managers, management of sport events, good governance, sport and non-formal education, inclusion through non-formal education…) with reference to the different countries of the partnership (Turkey, Spain and Italy).

It will be an opportunity to exchange knowledge and promote its use and enjoyment; it will be made available for the professional development of sports instructors (coaches and coaches) active in the field of improving the sports profile of people with migration background.
