EUROPE AND DISABILITY – End of the project and network meeting
The project Europe and Disability aims to raise awareness about policy and contribution of the European Union on disability and its support to people with disabilities at candidate countries and to increase the cooperation between the disability NGOs in Turkey and the disability NGOs in Europe.
Main activities that have been carried out for one year project duration are:
- Kick off meeting was held to increase the visibility of the project in Sinop on 29 June 2021.
- Qualitative and quantitative research was conducted to measure the view of the people with disabilities and people who has close links to people with disabilities about EU’s contribution on people with disabilities in Turkey.
In addition, the consortium produced 4 different reports on contribution of the European Union to the people with disabilities. These reports are:
- Report on the Mechanisms and General Policies of the European Union in the Field of Disability
- Report on Influence of EU on Lives of People with Disabilities in Turkey
- Report on Influence of EU on Lives of People with Disabilities in Italy
- Report on Influence of EU on Lives of People with Disabilities in Romania

On 2nd of March 2022 more than 50 people participated to the network meeting of the project Europe and Disability, the meeting was held online due to observance of precaution against the pandemic situation.
During the meeting 15 ngo’s working in the field of the disability in Europe had the opportunity to present their association with the rest of the participant, creating a good view of what is done every day in the European community that make possible for people with disability to live with a better quality of life.
The partners had the opportunity to present the results of the Europe and Disability project, consisting of three focused reports about policies and benefit for disability in Europe. That you can download from here: https://en.avrupaveengellilik.org/
The meeting was also a good occasion to present new project ideas, share suggestion and propose new partnerships, creating the basis for new fruitful collaborations.
