CEIPES and the partners of the BioS4YOU project are very glad to announce that Professor Dominique Persano Adorno, from University of Palermo, is attending the IOSTE (International Organization for Science and Technology Education) Symposium 2020 presenting a contribution about our project: “The BioS4YOU project: How Science Education Can Enhance Student Capacity to be Participatory Citizens in a Transforming World“.
The International Organization for Science and Technology Education was established to advance the cause of education in science and technology as a vital part of the general education of the peoples of all countries and to provide scholarly exchange and discussion in the field of Science and Technology Education. Today, IOSTE has members from about eighty countries, and is officially recognized by UNESCO as a non-governmental organization.
BioS4YOU project is funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme, KA201 – Strategic Partnerships for school education and it involves 5 partners from different countries: Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (Germany), CEIPES – Centro Internazionale per la promozione dell’educazione e lo sviluppo (Italy), Unipa – Università degli studi di Palermo (Italy), ADYMEM – Adıyaman Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü (Turkey), KTU – Kaunas University of technology (Lithuania).
The project aims to engage new generations, through formal and non-formal education and active-learning activities, in STEM subjects by introducing them to the bio-inspired technologies, to both the biologically inspired engineering and the scientific innovations, new treatments, technology and processes that could make a real difference in improvement of life and environment.
The main goal of BioS4YOU to realise various actions for STEM educators and support programs for young people, and young women in particular, focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, starting from the idea to relieve them of the fear and insecurity of these topics and to encourage them to the study of their subjects.
