The Learning Teaching and Training Activities in Antalya

 

From 10th to 14th October 2022, representatives of the different member organizations of the consortium, (Yalova University, SUYMERBIR and AKSAM from Turkey, Innopolis from Greece, CEIPES from Italy and DIDEAS from Spain), met in Antalya, Turkey, for the 4th Short Term Joint Staff of the Gastrofish Project (Erasmus+, funded by the European Commission, number of project 2019-3-TR01-KA205-080005).

It was a week full of activities related to the fisheries and aquaculture sector and fish consumption in Turkey, which included both experiences related to aquaculture, marketing and cooking techniques.

On Monday, 10 October 2022, the activities began with presentations on the status of fisheries and aquaculture in Turkey. Everybody got know each other for the future activities that would be carried out throughout the week. The Mediterranean Fisheries Research Production and Training Institute was shown to the participants. All participants received information about Turkish seafood cuisine techniques and the objectives, characteristics and results of the project and the activity they were part of.

On Tuesday, 11 October 2022, participants took part of a workshop on Seafood Cuisine and had the chance to cook Mediterranean fish dishes and be interviewed by a National TV. They told their experiences in this workshop and they mentioned something about their traditional seafood cuisines. After the workshop the group went to the Anatolian Ancient Theatre to see a show about the local culture.

Wednesday, 12 October 2022 was dedicated to a tour of the fishing port district of Antalya. All participants were informed fon fishing activities and the situation of the sector in Antalya. The different fishing techniques used in Antalya region were learnt: the main methods and tricks for catching fish were told by fishermen.

On Thursday, 13 October 2022 there was a visit to the Antalya Aquarium which is the longest tunnel aquarium in Europe to see different type of ornamental fish species, sharks, and sea turtles. The participants received an introductory session of some fish plates from the Barınak Balıkevi by Murat Chef. The day concluded with a visit to the picturesque Düden Waterfalls.

On Friday, 14 October 2022, the closing Ceremony of the project was held in MEDFRI. All participants took their certificates from the director of the Institution.

This day marked the end of the intense schedule planned for the training and knowledge of the participants, who really enjoyed this intense experience of sharing and learning.
