EURIVERSITY

The project ended but the real work will start now!

Palermo was the last appointment for the partners of the project Euriversity – European action against discrimination [2019-1-ES01-KA201-064132] to officially meet.

The purpose of the project was to share good practices related to the prevention of discrimination and the effective promotion of inclusion within partner education systems from a point of view of gender and emotional-sexual diversity.

Hence, the transnational meetings represented crucial moments for the implementation of the project. However, the pandemic covid-19 jeopardized the initial plan of 3 years project, thus it got extended and almost all the meetings were condensed in the last year.

The project proposed a collective, transversal approach involving all the institutions taking part in the project, the different educational communities, and their social and cultural environments.

The project involved 5 European partners: Svartedalsgatan – Secondary education centre (Sweden); Platon Private School – an education centre specialized in innovation (Greece); CEIPES (Italy) and ECOS- Cooperative for Education, Cooperation and Development (Portugal) and the coordinator, the Jaén Teacher’s Centre (Spain).

Along the process, the opportunity to meet quite often gave to the partners the chance to make a bond and better cooperate among them, as the output progressed. As a matter of fact, they all agreed on their personal and professional enrichment. Thus, from now on they all can implement in a better way gender awareness activities in schools, universities, and educational institutions.

Furthermore, among the activities that have been carried out during the project implementation, it is worthen mentioning the Living library videos, important awareness-raising tools for discrimination prevention, realized for schools, targeting both teachers and students.

Moreover, two Learning Teaching and Training activities with students and experts encompassed practical experiences and artistic activities that stimulated the participants’ creativity and learning. Additionally, the students explored “Visual Thinking”, a kind of efficient communication based on images, drawings, and symbols. This methodology facilitates the representation of concepts, their understanding, and memorization.

Through this project all the stakeholders get closer to the LGBTQIA+ community, to the issues the latter might face, especially during adolescence. The aim from now on is to keep the awareness and sensitivity that arose to shape a comfortable environment around us, in every contest.

All the results produced are available and downloadable on the project’s official website. Besides, you can follow the Facebook page.
