CIRCULAR SCHOOLS – The first meeting of the consortium in Prague

On 6 and 7 February, the Circular Schools project consortium met in person for the first time in Prague, Czech Republic, to discuss and plan the work that will be done over the next two years to bring the circular economy into Czech, Italian, Slovak and Portuguese classrooms.

Circular Schools is a new Erasmus+ funded project that aims to research and collect the best innovative, interesting and wholesome circular practices from schools in the partner countries. In addition to the catalogue of best practices, the consortium will deliver a classroom toolbox with at least 24 inclusive activities, which will be shared with teachers so that they can implement them with their students. Particular attention will be paid to students with special educational needs and from disadvantaged backgrounds, who have been shown to benefit greatly from participation in practical activities and hands-on learning. In order to maximise the reach of the Circular Schools projects among European schools, the consortium will develop a resource sharing training platform that will allow teachers and school staff to access the resources developed within the project.

During the kick off meeting, the partner organisations took the opportunity to introduce themselves and discuss the expertise they bring to the table in order to maximise the synergy of the consortium. In addition, each work package was presented along with its scope, objectives, expected deliverables and timelines.

At the end of the two-day meeting, the partners agreed that the expectations they had each brought with them had been met and that the consortium was on the right track to deliver the best results in supporting European schools to adopt a circular mindset and make sustainable choices inside and outside the classroom.
