ONE GOAL – At the National Sport Academy in Sofia for the 4th Woman Football Campaign!

The fourth international Women Football Campaigns (WFC), organised in the framework of the One Goal project (project number: EAC-2020-0605), was held in Sofia – Bulgaria, on 11 and 12 September 2022. One Goal project is aimed to enhance theoretical, technical and practical skills of female football coaches in order to develop a methodology based on training and psychological aspects to be applied on the sport field.

Bulgarian Sports Development Association (BSDA) hosted project partners from Lithuania (Active Youth), Italy (CEIPES) and Hungary (BAIS).  Delegations, made up of 3 representatives – 2 women football coaches and one project manager – for each participating country, spent two days together full of sports activities and training at the National Sport Academy “Vassil Levski”, in Sofia.

During the two days of WFC, the female football coaches took part in theoretical sessions on coaching skills development, conducted by experienced professors, and then, they tried to devise technical training sessions for two women’s teams of the National Academy: under 17 and first team. In the afternoon, indeed, the participating coaches led and carried out on the football pitch the training planned by themselves, receiving the total approval and participation of the players involved.

The coaches also attended the testimonial of Simona Petkova, the best player of the Bulgarian national team. Simona shared with the participants important issues such as: the difficulty for women to obtain professional contracts in the world of football, the challenges she faces going to play abroad and how important it is to fight and sacrifice yourself daily to achieve goals both in sport and in personal life.

After the planned activities, the whole consortium visited the huge sport facilities of the National Sport Academy “Vassil Levski”, Bulgaria’s premiere higher education institution specialising in teaching physical education.

Thanks to the 4 WFC the cooperation and the network established between the coaches of different countries has been strengthened even more. The ONE GOAL consortium is indeed looking forward to meeting again in Lithuania in November for the fifth WFC and the final conference of the project!
