INCLU-AGEING – Insight from the pilot phase in Palermo

The Inclu-ageing project embarked on a pioneering journey to address the challenges posed by aging populations and disabilities, keeping going on through the trial phase. As the consortium navigates the challenges and opportunities of an aging world, the lessons learned from the pilot phase will serve as a guiding light towards a more inclusive future for people with disabilities everywhere.

CEIPES ETS carried out the pilot on 14th of February 2024 at the retirement home “Centro Madre del Divino Amore”, both with adults and aging people with disabilities, their family members and legal guardians.

The pilot day witnessed a diverse spectrum of interventions, encompassing the toolkit, the guidebook and its contents, videos, the laughter yoga sessions with activities geared towards preventing cognitive decline, and the trial of the learning HUB. Crafted with meticulous attention, these initiatives were tailored to meet the intricate needs of the participants, highlighting the project’s unwavering dedication to fostering inclusivity and well-being.

The pilot activity was also a chance to discuss the national and regional laws for supporting the family members and legal guardians of adults and aging people with disabilities, gaining important information for the development of the cross-country policy recommendation report. It will be available on the project website, together with all the deliverables. More details will also be available on the project Facebook page.

Moreover, the emphasis on holistic support, spanning physical, mental, and social spheres, mirrors the project’s holistic ethos in addressing the varied needs of aging individuals with disabilities. Seamless integration of healthcare provisions, social services, and community networks emerges as indispensable in enriching overall well-being and fostering self-reliance.
