EUHRENET – Empowering human rights in EU towns during the consortium final meeting

On the 21st and 22nd of September 2023 the consortium of the project EUHRENET- European Human Network of Towns  (project number: 101054251) took part to the last event hosted online by the Slovenian partner DRPDNM, Novo mesto, “Supporting local authorities to adopt human rights as guiding norm of local governance in European towns”.

The first day, the host organized an online conference focused on different perspectives related to human rights, in particular migration and LGBT+ community. In addition, the speakers strengthen the importance of education on sensitive topics and multicultural literacy.

In conclusion, a representative of DRPDNM analyzed the role of NGOs in the process of inclusion of vulnerable groups and in the promotion of human rights at local level.

The project will finish at the end of September, so the second day was dedicated to the last Consortium meeting.

Torres Novas, as project coordinator, thanked the partners for their efforts and summarized all the results achieved.

Then, the partners had a look at the last steps and they discussed possible new initiatives.

CEIPES has been honored to be part of this important project, representing Italy. Indeed, the project covered important topics discussed in both online and in-person events and it provided us with a valuable opportunity to raise awareness and share best practices based on the EU Charter on Fundamental Rights, particularly at the local level.
