C.O.R.E

The Carbon Offsetting for Resilient Entrepreneurship project

The first project meeting of C.O.R.E. – Carbon Offsetting for Resilient Entrepreneurship (2022-1-FI01-KA220-SCH-000090192) co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme – Cooperation Partnerships in School Education – was held on 5 and 6 December 2022 in Helsinki (Finland) at the Varia Vocational College, where the partnership enthusiastically met in presence for the first time. It encompasses six partner countries – Finland, Italy, Ireland, France, Greece and Cyprus.

C.O.R.E. is a three-year project started in September 2022, funded by the Erasmus+ with the broad scope of raising the awareness of students, educators and the civil society on the changes necessary to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and meet the European Green Deal targets. Specifically, it will act on empowering school students to develop a sustainable entrepreneurial mindset through training and learning tools that will lead to the creation of a carbon offsetting virtual enterprise, combining environmental action and circular economy practices.

After the welcome opening followed by the presentation of each partner’s organization, the Consortium discussed about dissemination strategies and other ways to make the results as sustainable as possible, and then began to examine the overall structure.

C.O.R.E. will articulate through three phases, namely:

– Researching and framing the resources to develop the material for teachers

– The actual training of trainers (teachers and educator) that in turn will train the school students to develop a sustainable entrepreneurial mindset

– The creation of a virtual carbon offsetting company by students themselves.

During the meeting the partnership began to discuss the first action, and it was established that every partner will do research on entrepreneurship and the best practices that schools use in the circular economy and carbon reduction landscape. The aim of the research will be to produce an integrated country report on the level of entrepreneurial and environmental education in students aged 10 -18 years old. Innovative guides and modules will also be created, as well as an online platform with the necessary tools to enhance the building of skills in carbon offsetting practices.

Once the research will be completed, parties agreed to share and confront the results in order to produce an integrated research document that will be valid at a European level.
