LET’S TALK ABOUT CHILDREN – Empowering Practitioners through Positive Parenting Training

In a significant milestone for the Let’s Talk About Children (LTC) project, the final training session for practitioners was conducted by CEIPES in Palermo on May 2nd, at the CEIPES premises.

This training session marked the culmination of an inspiring journey aimed at promoting positive parenting and bolstering the mental well-being of families, particularly those facing vulnerabilities. Now, the trained and certified practitioners can embark on the train-the-trainer program, empowering them to educate new practitioners across Sicily.

The LTC project encompasses initiatives tailored to support positive parenting in families confronting unique challenges, such as those involved with mental health services. Moreover, it adopts a universal approach by integrating LTC into primary and secondary school environments. The objective is to equip professionals and educators with the necessary tools and knowledge to make a constructive impact on the lives of children and families.

A total of 12 participants, comprising primary school teachers and mental health professionals, attended this training session. Facilitated by LTC trainer Emmi Riihiranta-Laine from Finland, the training covered a diverse range of topics, including Method Supervision, Network meetings and practice, Future plans with LTC in Sicily and Trainers training plans. Participants also engaged in hands-on activities and practical exercises, culminating in the attainment of their certifications.

The enthusiasm and dedication of the participants throughout the training were palpable. They are eager to continue their educational journey during the project’s implementation phase. Many expressed a strong desire to become LTC trainers, motivated by their passion to apply this innovative methodology in supporting more families and training additional professionals.

This session represents a significant step towards realizing the LTC project’s vision of empowering individuals, enhancing family dynamics, and fostering positive mental health outcomes for vulnerable children and families. As the project progresses, the impact of these dedicated practitioners is expected to be considerable and far-reaching.
