GREEN TICK – Promoting Reliable Digital Content on Healthy Living

On April 3rd and 4th, the first meeting of the “Green Tick project” consortium, comprised of partners from 7 countries, took place in Bolu, Türkiye.

The “Green Tick” project, whose name evokes the idea of a “green mark” indicating reliability and safety, focuses on improving the credibility and security of digital information in three main areas: sports, health, and nutrition.

To achieve this, the Green Tick project will carry out a series of specific activities, including training sessions for users and content producers/developers, as well as the designation of social media accounts with the “Green Tick” badge based on pre-established evaluation criteria.

During the meeting in Bolu, discussions revolved around tasks to be developed and ongoing activities. The development of the platform, which will serve as a central tool for training and collaboration in the project, was discussed. This platform will contain training modules and a space to receive user feedback.

Another task discussed in the meeting was the development of the “Green Tick Guide” guidelines, which will establish criteria for evaluating the truthfulness of digital information and promoting reliable sources. These guidelines will be based on information collected from the ongoing systematic review and interviews with experts in health, diet, and sports. It is expected that these guidelines will improve the quality and security of digital content related to these topics, thus contributing to the project’s goal of establishing criteria for evaluating social media and digital applications for reliable information.

The next consortium meeting will take place in Seville in November, where progress and collaboration in the Green Tick project are expected to continue.
