It’s time to bring down the curtain (metaphorically) on another wonderful adventure: CEIPES ETS is pleased to announce the official conclusion of the ‘D.B.Y.’ project. – Directed By YOU(th)‘, co-funded by the European Union’s CERV (Citizens, Equals, Rights and Values) programme. The project had a strong impact on both young Europeans and the population in several European countries, including Italy, Greece, Spain, Romania, Ireland, Austria and Bulgaria.
The project aimed to bring out, through the innovative tool of participatory documentary, the voices of young people. The young people, who had first participated in a series of workshops on film-making, video-editing and graphic design, tried their hand at making a number of short films on topics of interest to them and closely related to civic engagement, such as cat-calling, drug use, depression, pandemic loss, homo-parental families and the circular economy. At the end of these workshops, 10 movies (available on the official YouTube channel of the project) were realised by the youth.
Some of the documentaries made by the young people were then presented first at local festivals (held in the partnership countries) and later at an international event in Thessaloniki, Greece. The emotions were many and we will certainly cherish indelible memories forever: a small step was taken, once again, in favour of positive change! So what can we say?
