A rich exchange of good practices for elderly!

On the 9th April 2024, CEIPES ETS organised an event in collaboration with the Municipality of Palermo within the theme of “Aging and Well-being: support for relatives and legal guardians of elderly and people with disability”. 

The event began with the presentation of CEIPES ETS and the Municipality of Palermo – U.O. Wellness and Welfare, led by Dr. Ferrara and Dr. Di Benedetto. This session highlighted the importance of well-being and welfare in today’s society, especially in relation to aging. Subsequently, Dr. Di Benedetto discussed the role of women and their influence in the workplace and the importance of equal opportunities and personal and family care loads. Dr. Formisani then addressed the urgency of administrative and bureaucratic support for family caregivers, underlining the fundamental role of the Municipality of Palermo. 

Three innovative CEIPES projects were presented: “Inclu-ageing” which focuses on inclusion and active aging, “Emprove” which aims to develop skills for elderly care, and “Activator” which promotes active participation in Citizen Science.  

Besides, the event counted with the participation of very interested realities for seniors. La Dot. Antonella Guastella of the municipality of Palermo unveiled the Day Center for the Elderly of Boccadifalco, in which they carry out cultural, recreational and recreational initiatives, cultural and health information aimed at people over 60. Oticon gives the opportunity to hearing impaired people to acquire their devices in collaboration with public entities, in order to eliminate economic barriers. Participants were also introduced to the association Incolti, which is responsible for orthotherapy, environmental education and art promotion. 

This event represented an important opportunity to discuss and reflect on the challenges and opportunities related to aging and well-being, highlighting the importance of inclusion and empowerment in this context.
