The event “Salute Mentale, Nuove Dipendenze e Coinvolgimento Sociale” held on October 28 and organized by CEIPES ETS with the Municipality of Palermo, covered topics such as corporate well-being, work-life balance, social involvement of the elderly, and new addictions. The opening by City Councilor Salvatore Imperiale and Antonella Ferrara, Head of Human Resources of the Municipality of Palermo, emphasized the key role of health and social inclusion. Dr. Concetta di Benedetto then discussed corporate health and anti-discrimination efforts.
A focus was placed on transversal skills in Public Administration and the need for reskilling, presenting the PRIORITY45 project, which supports continuous learning and upskilling for those over 45. The issue of non-substance addictions, particularly workaholism and pathological gambling, sparked reflections on burnout and mental health, highlighting the importance of balancing work and private life.
Finally, the care and involvement of the elderly were addressed through the EMPROVE and ACTIVATOR projects. EMPROVE aims to enhance the role of the “Professional Relative” in Europe, stressing the importance of training in emotional support and emotional intelligence. ACTIVATOR focuses on involving the elderly in citizen science, promoting active participation of those over 60 in scientific information.
The event was an important opportunity for learning and exchanging experiences, strengthening the bond between public administration and citizens.
