OACCUS – UNITED4HEALTH: The Grand Finale of the project

On May 16, 2024, the grand finale of the Outdoor Against Cancer Connect Us (OACCUs) project, UNITED4HEALTH, took place, marking the culmination of 23 months of pioneering work. This groundbreaking project has successfully established a Europe-wide network to promote a healthy lifestyle for young cancer survivors.

The 150-minute live-streaming event provided a comprehensive overview of the consortium’s efforts and successes. Key highlights included the presentation of major results and scientific findings in accessible English, the introduction of educational materials and the project toolbox, and engaging interviews with young cancer survivors and professionals working in the field. Live demonstrations of best practices showcased practical approaches to integrating exercise, reconsidering nutrition, and celebrating the invaluable benefits of sustainability and nature for both physical and mental well-being.

A particularly significant aspect of the event was the live streaming from various project countries. In Italy, CEIPES, UNIPA, and LILT hosted an inspiring session at the Yacht Club Mediterraneo. They showcased the training of the AquileRosa, Palermo’s dragon boat team composed of women who have overcome breast cancer. Following the demonstration, all participants enjoyed a healthy snack featuring fruit, olive oil, and vegetables. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the event’s success in promoting a healthier lifestyle and fostering a supportive community for young cancer survivors.
