MY SWEET SMART HOME –  Promoting Independence Through Smart Technologies

On the 31st of July 2024, the MY SWEET SMART HOME project (2021-1-DE02-KA220-VET-000033058), an ambitious initiative under the Erasmus+ program, has reached its conclusion leaving behind a legacy of innovation and empowerment for people with disabilities. This project aimed to enhance the quality of life for individuals with physical, mental, sensory, neurological or organic disabilities by using smart home technologies.

Throughout its more than 2 years of development, the consortium has achieved these main results:

1. Guide to Needs, Problems, Interests, and Solutions: This comprehensive guide addresses the challenges faced by people with various disabilities in their own homes. It provides practical solutions and insights to improve their living conditions and promote independence.

2. Course for Adapting Smart Homes: One of the standout achievements of the project is the creation of an interactive learning platform. A specialised course was developed inside it to educate individuals on how to adapt smart home technologies to enhance the independence and autonomy of people with disabilities. This course covers everything from basic installations to advanced configurations, ensuring that participants can effectively utilize smart technologies in their daily lives.

MY SWEET SMART HOME project has opened up a new world of opportunities for people with disabilities. By promoting the use of smart technologies, the project has empowered individuals to lead more independent, self-determined and comfortable lives within their own homes. The innovative solutions and educational resources developed through this initiative will continue to benefit users long after the project’s official end. Besides, its heritage will undoubtedly inspire future initiatives aimed at utilising technology to create more inclusive and supportive living spaces.
