MIGRANT KIDS AT SCHOOL –  Educational experts met in Poland for the first study visit

On the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of May 2024, CEIPES ETS took part in the first study visit of the European project Migrant kids at school (project number: 2023-1-PL01-KA220-SCH-000159736) that was held by Rej Foundation in Krakow (Poland).

Specifically, two experts from Italy had the chance to understand the inclusive practices that Polish schools and the municipality of Krakow are implementing at the local level.

On the first day, the participants met for an initial session to deepen the agenda and the objectives of the organized visits. Then, they went to the Multicultural Center a facility financed by the municipality that was opened in 2021 and offers services and counseling for migrants in the city. During the afternoon, the group visited another migrant support center dealing specifically with children and opened thanks to the support of UNICEF.

Moreover, the second day was dedicated to visiting two schools for kids with special needs, with a focus on international students. Then, a multicultural walk was organized to visit a specific neighborhood of Krakow.

On the last day, the hosts organized a roundtable inviting a representative of the Department of Social Policy and Health and a partner of the Horizon project Micreate that highlights the efforts that the municipality is undertaking for the inclusion of migrants, especially after the outbreak of war in Ukraine.

CEIPES ETS representatives also shared their methodologies and best practices in dealing with multicultural kids and the experience was really enriching.
