UPSKILLING VET – The capacity-building programme for VET trainers explained to VETs in the health sector

The consortium of Upskilling VET institutions and healthcare professionals on promoting gender equality in healthcare provision [Project Number 2022-1-NO01-KA220-VET-000088213] organises in each country a training based on the Capacity Building program they recently produced.

The activity took place in the second week of December. CEIPES ETS trainers explained the capacity-building modules, analysing the following topics in particular: basic concepts of gender, gender inequality in modern societies, gender inequality in health care, use of gender-sensitive language and the need to raise awareness in the classroom.

VET Trainers, health professionals gathered at CEIPES ETS headquarters and online to learn more about gender equality in Italy and other countries, also learning specific tools, provided in the capacity building programme, on how to address the situation and deal with the topic in order to achieve the project’s main objective, awareness-raising.

The training was really useful for the participants to obtain theoretical knowledge on the topic, which they lacked in their studies and classrooms. On the other hand, it was also an opportunity for the project trainers to listen to the stories and needs of the participants, thus highlighting the real strong need for this project and thus the subsequent activities to be implemented.

The capacity-building programme on how to adjust current curricula to gender equality standards is actually the first outcome of the project and receives evaluation feedback, at the end of the piloting activities, which score highly. Therefore, the consortium is really proud of the work it is doing and strongly motivated to keep up the aspiration.
