Objectives

Create an integrated system of services that starts from public goods such as libraries and that is capable of self-sustaining and continuing to carry out its function over time.

Activities
  • Creation of a new integrated and multidimensional cultural system that starts from public libraries and encourages and implements their opening, making them attractive, accessible places of cultural exchange and social inclusion.
  • Creation of an informal network of public libraries that interface with communities and are their hub.
  • Creation of an inclusive, technological and participatory model of cultural diffusion, which is capable of locally interpreting the processes of ongoing social transformation, through training/information activities, laboratory activities, promotion of reading also with the activation of a web- radio, Sunday openings and participatory planning activities.
  • Affirmation of a new model of cultural citizenship and a change in the relationship between the library institution and the territory through a “sustainable network” of readers, in a close relationship with schools, families and associations (stakeholders) for stable development and social infrastructure over time.
  • The system generated from the bottom up takes into account the different identities of the places, stories, landscapes and people that make up the communities of the territories of the libraries participating in the project and also reaches the municipalities in the network without public libraries, also thanks to the adoption of Design thinking for libraries, a methodology that introduces a way of working that can help understand user needs and involve communities.
Results
  • Enhancement of the social role of the library and strengthening of the services offered
  • Community participation in sporting and cultural activities
