CEIPES presents the new Universal Civil Service project “Verde Mare: The Waves of Change”

CEIPES ETS is proud to introduce the new Universal Civil Service project “Verde Mare: the Waves of Change”, offering to four young people under 30 the opportunity to work in Palermo for a year.

What is Universal Civil Service?

Universal Civil Service is a voluntary choice to dedicate months of one’s life to non-armed, non-violent service to the country, education, peace among peoples, and the promotion of the foundational values of the Italian Republic through community and territorial actions.

The CEIPES project

The “Verde Mare: The Waves of Change” project is part of the FOCSIV program “Education and Cultural, Landscape, Environmental Promotion, Sustainable and Social Tourism, and Sports.” The project aims to raise community awareness, especially among young people, about the environmental impact of consumption through educational, training, and recreational experiences to develop skills for environmental protection. It involves creating repeatable sustainability models by managing common spaces and green areas, conducting community-managed territorial care activities, and identifying best practices to reduce everyone’s environmental impact.

Activities

Volunteers at CEIPES ETS will develop sustainability models and practices to reduce community environmental impact through:

  • Guided tours at the CEIPES Empowerment Museum, promoting environmental respect and strategies for ecological transition.
  • Workshops at the museum to develop skills in environmental sustainability.
  • Innovative learning experiences using the CEIPES Educational Escape Room, creating at least two environmental-themed scenarios.
  • Podcasts for the web radio “ANG in radio – CEIPES Youth is in the air,” involving scriptwriting, guest selection, and editing.
  • Summer camp activities for the local community to promote environmental respect and care for common spaces.
  • Support for the “Library of Things” campaign, promoting a culture of donation and reuse.
  • School-targeted activities to develop ecological skills and sustainable entrepreneurship.
  • Skill-building in sustainable entrepreneurship through non-formal education techniques.
  • Volunteering pathways to strengthen active citizenship and sustainability in various life sectors.
  • Park and coast cleaning days during the project.
  • Creating guidelines and manuals for ecologically ethical behavior.
