GRUNDTVIG MULTILATERAL PROJECT

CALL FOR PARTNERS

ROMA FAMILIES IN THE SEXUAL EDUCATION CONTEXT

This project in the framework LLP (Lifelong learning Programme) is born based on the need of raising awareness and providing education regarding Gender Roles, Sexual Education, Sexual Orientation within the Roma communities.

For more information on Grundtvig Multilateral Projects and the LLP Guide please go to: http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/llp/grundtvig/grundtvig_multilateral_projects_en.php

This will be achieved through a long-term training course which will directly work with the local communities by using non-formal education through encouragement and improvement of the competences of the participants and the introduction of new concepts and learning methods.

The project goal is not only to provide with the relevant information but also to empower the participants with the necessary tools to carry out a follow up in their communities (brochures and mobile information centre) and create a network among the local communities which will take part in this project. Indeed, the final goal is to combat marginalization, unemployment and poverty, foster inclusion and promote human rights education.

Furthermore, with regard to the final result of the project, it is expected that the participants themselves create a Practical Guide on Sexual Educationbased on their own experience and knowledge acquired throughout the training course. This guide will be adjusted to the language and culture of each community to ensure that it will have a real and long-term impact on the local community, factors which are indeed key in the development of the project.

The project is divided into 4 different phases to be carried out in the different partner countries at the same time but always respecting diversity and adjusting to the local environment; this means thateach country will use the teaching methods/approaches considered the most appropriate to deal with the local community.

However, at the end of each module a international partner meeting will take place in one of the partner countries to bring together the results and thus create a common product that summarizes the different results of the European workshops. This will also give the possibility of European mobility to at least one member of the various Roma communities.

Due to the complexity and the different phases (awareness raising, workshops and introduction of new concepts, general training, final results and follow-up) the total duration of the project is estimated to be 2 years.
