On the 21st of December 2021, the kick-off meeting of our brand-new project UPCOMING WOMEN – Low Skilled Women’ Empowerment Through Global Competence and Mentorship, took place in Sofia (Bulgaria), hometown of the project’s coordinator Right to Childhood Foundation.

The meeting was held in a blended way: some of the partners attended in presence, while some others joined online due to the worsening of COVID pandemic throughout Europe. It was organised and managed in an excellent and productive way thank to the great organisation of the coordinator of the project and the cooperation of all partners. During the meeting, the objectives, results, actions and target groups of the project were presented, such as the next steps to be taken by all the 6 partners which compose the consortium.

The UPCOMING WOMEN project aims to empower low-skilled and vulnerable women, in order to strengthen their social and labor integration. In addition, the project aims to support the professionals (social workers and others) working with low-skilled and vulnerable women, as well as to raise public awareness about gender inequalities and promote gender equality.

The project is motivated for the need to address the existing gender inequalities on partner countries and beyond and to benefit from the global competence and mentoring approaches.

All the partners have a wide-ranging experience and expertise in all the fields of the project: from what concerns addressing gender issues and implementing projects in the field of gender inequalities to working with groups who deal with situation of vulnerability.

The project will help women but also professionals, giving them the tools to create new and innovative mentoring methodologies.

To achieve the goals of the project, the consortium has defined the following Intellectual Outputs:

IO1. UPCOMING WOMEN Interactive Microlearning courses

IO2. UPCOMING WOMEN Experimental workshops

IO3. UPCOMING WOMEN Mentorship Programme

All these elements were discussed during the meeting, and an initial division of work has been done. Moreover, all the leading organisations responsible for each output presented the activities and the results to be achieved in the next months, as well as the activities to grant quality, dissemination of results and sustainability of the project.

The project’s consortium will meet again – virtually – in August to monitor the progress made and define the next steps.
