TRAINING TO WIN – BMX: The 2nd transnational meeting

The 2nd Transnational Meeting of Training to win – Bmx was held on 20 and 21 January 2022. The meeting took place online, in compliance with the Covid-19 regulations.

The main goal of Training to win – Bmx is promote the physical, mental and socio-relational benefits of BMX for children and young people and stimulate dual careers for BMX riders, supporting their professional and educational development.

During the meeting the coordinator had the possibility to briefly present the results of IO1 Questionnaire on BMX Training Needs” and IO2 “Test Battery”.

During the two-day meeting, managers, researchers and trainers discussed the development of IO3 “BMX Training Course – Open Educational Resource”. The consortium is currently working to design and develop an integral BMX training course for trainers and coaches, based on evidence and scientific studies. The contents that will be uploaded to the Online Learning Platform have been defined within small working groups.

In particular, the BMX training courses will consider:

  • Common knowledge – scientific and generic transversal modules to all sport modalities as sociology, psychology, anatomy, pedagogical contents and teaching methodology
  • Specific knowledge – scientific and technical specific modules for BMX (Physical conditioning, rules, technique, tactic, psychology)
  • Complementary knowledge: TIC resources applied to BMX training and social demand analysis
  • Practice knowledge: supervised internships, applying all the acquired knowledge to field training.

It was a very important occasion of sharing and discussion that strengthened the already solid cooperation between the partners.

Finally, the next steps of the project have been planned, such as the BMX Ecosystem Workshop to be held in Zaragoza (Spain) in April 2022.
