On February 5th and 6th 2020, the partners of the project SPORTS IDENTITY – enhancing citizenship education through sport – have met for the second training/teaching activity in Palermo, Italy.

The project was funded by the Erasmus+ Program KA2 – Strategic Partnerships in field of youth – Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices, with the aim of improving sport competences and developing citizenship education through sport values in according to prevent the risks of violent radicalization among young people.

SPORTS IDENTITY involves 5 partner organizations: Creps ile de France from France (project coordinator), CEIPES (Italy), CSI (Italy), Asvo Salzburg (Austria) and CAI (Portugal).Organized by CEIPES, the training activity had the aim of testing some of the activities that are going to be included in the final IO3 Toolkit and online training for youth workers and sports educators in prevention of radicalization in sports.

The partners discussed about the project updates and what we have done so far (IO1 – Benchmark of good practices to prevent violent radicalization through sport citizenship and IO2 – Methodological guide to support the development of sports citizenship in sports clubs and youth organizations). Moreover they tested some activities and agreed on next steps. On this occasion, CEIPES – partner responsible for the realization of the Toolkit – presented the first draft of it and selected a series of activities to test. The Toolkit will be structured in two parts, theory part regarding radicalization and non-formal education, and practice part (collection of the activities).

Next Transnational Meeting will be hosted by CREPS on May 5th – 6th 2020 in Paris, France.
