The fourth transnational meeting of “Lay Teachers – supporting non-professional teachers to introduce migrants and refugees to national languages” project , according to the calendar, was supposed to be carried out in Dublin, Ireland hosted in the headquarter of one of our project partner. Unfortunately, due to the international lockdown caused by Covid health emergency and the impossibility to travel around Europe, the Consortium decided to organise an online meeting through Skype platform.

All the partners of the consortium attended this online meeting that was important in order to define the last steps to complete the online e-learning platform, with all the modules.

The situation we are facing regarding the Coronavirus emergency does not affect the online implementation part of LAY TEACHERS project. So, the online training and other activities, as online focus groups, can be organized. Indeed, the blended learning and the multiplier events will be affected since they imply physical presence of people. For that reason, INFODEF, as coordinator of the project, proposes to the Consortium an extension period of the project of 3 months. Everyone agrees with this decision.

Despite the hard period, everyone worked on the 2nd Intellectual output from home following countries governmental instructions. Every partner wrote different modules as material for the online digital database, dividing them on: theoretical and pedagogical framework, two practical activities and the material for the e-learning courses. All the material is ready in English and now we need to translate them in the several languages of the partners’ project, in order to upload them in the online platform.

For next months, the Consortium will work on the 3rd and last Intellectual output that foresee the development of guidelines and recommendations on introducing migrants and refugees to national languages in Adult Education.

We hope to come back very soon to meet face to face, for the moment, we stay at home for us and for our relatives, hoping it could be over very soon!
