Project name: “SAMANTHA: Skills in Additive MANufacturing for the Toolmaking and HAbitat Sectors”

Project number: (2019-1-DE02-KA202-006458)

Duration: 36 months

Coordinator: KIT- Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (GERMANY)

Financed by: Erasmus+ programme, Key Action 2 (Strategic Partnership for Innovation and Exchange of good practices).

Partners: Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) (Germany), ILI -FRIEDRICH-ALEXANDER-UNIVERSITAET ERLANGEN NUERNBERG (Germany), AMUEBLA- AGRUPACION EMPRESARIAL INNOVADORA DE FABRICANTES DE MUEBLES Y AFINES DE LA REGION DE MURCIA (Spain), Cenfim – CENTRE DE DIFUSIO TECNOLOGICA DE LA FUSTA I DEL MOBLE DE CATALUNYA (Spain), CEIPES (Italy), Centrocot – CENTRO TESSILE COTONIERO E ABBIGLIAMENTO SPA (Italy) e TECOS Razvojni center orodjarstva Slovenije (Slovenia).

On the 24th and 25th of September 2019, CEIPES attended the kick-off meeting (KOM) of the “SAMANTHA” project in Karlsruhe (Germany), guests of the University KIT- Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

The KOM was the opportunity to get to know all the consortium members and to build the team for a smooth and trustworthy implementation of the project.

The day was set up according to a clear agenda. After the presentation of each organization involved in the SAMANTHA project, the overall project was presented by the coordinator in its activities, responsibilities and time schedule.

SAMANTHA is a project that aims to develop a novel training program addressing the mismatched high-tech T-shaped skills for proper implementation of AM in the value chains of such sectors through high qualified workers. From this main objective there are several specific objectives and products to develop during the implementation of the project:

IO1- Create flexible learning pathways and didactic tools based on the learning outcomes approach, able to provide, assess and recognize the key competences identified in target groups.

IO2 – To ensure good alignment of VET programmes with the requirements of the Toolmaking industry and Habitat sector regarding AM.

IO3 – To boost the Digital Transformation and the Smart Industrial Specialisation of these manufacturing sectors with a competent implementation of AM in their value chains.

IO4 – To increase competitiveness and productivity of these sectors with a continuous up/re-skilling of the workforce with the required high-tech T-shaped skills needed in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

IO5 – To raise awareness and to improve the image of KETs and STEM graduates in society as a field to work in.

During KOM, besides the general review of the project, of the tasks for each partner, the managerial, and economic part, dissemination and quality assurance aspects, group activities were conducted to better understand the context in which SAMANTHA take place and at the same time to realize the support structure of the first IO1 of the project.

In the following months our partners will be involved in comparing today’s scenario and understanding what may be the elements of innovation in this project.

In the following weeks the website and the coordinated image of the project will also be launched.
