Our 3rd transnational meeting of ‘Use or Lose’ project took place in Trikala (Greece) from 5 to 6 of September 2019 at the premises of Developmental Center of Thessaly (AKETH).

The project “Use or Lose” aims to prevent and draw attention on dementia by developing innovative practices and implementing cooperative initiatives. The objectives of the project are the following: assist in the improvement of memory and cognitive activities that exercise patients’ thinking and memory skills, as well as assist their families and caregivers.

After having collected and analyzed the surveys’ results delivered to the above-mentioned target groups, the partners in Trikala agreed on the chapters of the intellectual output which is the Therapy Guidebook. Among the topics which will be covered there are the following: dementia symptoms and stages, the burnout syndrome and dementia prevention, as well as recommendation for both target users, stereotypes and therapy activities (mental stimulation, art therapy, music therapy, sport activities, leisure, etc.).

Those activities in the guidebook will be used in therapy rooms for the psychosocial rehabilitation of the patients with the assistance of youth volunteers from local community.

Finally the partners discussed the dissemination tools in order to improve their cooperation and impact on social media; as well as the quality assessment indicators of the project, together with some management issues.

The next transnational meeting will be held in Szczecin (Poland), the next 3-4 December 2019 where the partners are expected to present the final version of the Therapy Guidebook!
