EURIVERSITY – The second Training Activities to reduce discrimination!

From the 21st to the 23rd of September 2022 the Consortium of the project “Euriversity – European action against discrimination” [2019-1-ES01-KA201-064132] – organized the second training activity in Cazorla (Spain).

The project involves 5 European countries. The coordinator is the Jaén Teacher’s Centre (Spain) and the partners are: Svartedalsgatan – Secondary education centre (Sweden); Platon Private School – an Education centre specialized in innovation (Greece); CEIPES (Italy) and ECOS- Cooperative for Education, Cooperation and Development (Portugal).

The project’s main objectives are to include primary and secondary students to reduce discrimination based on gender or affective orientation and raise awareness about sexism in school and homophobia. In fact, suddenly acts of bullying target many students from the LGBTQIA+ community. So the Consortium pursues the goal to establish a European Network of discrimination-free schools.

Different training and experts on the topic of the project took part in the training activities and all the exercises that were carried out were accompanied by practical experiences and artistic activities that stimulated the participants’ creativity and learning.

Specifically, the first topic covered was “Cooperative Learning”, a teaching methodology providing the creation of small groups of students during the learning phase, that helps one another and feels responsible for each other’s progress.

Then, the group deepened the topic of “Visual Thinking”, a kind of efficient communication based on images, drawings and symbols. This methodology facilitates the representation of concepts, their understanding and memorization.

Lastly, attendances have a very interesting debate on the issues linked to male-dominated societies and on the indirect sexist behaviors that are widespread and rooted also in societies that claim equal opportunities for women and men.

During the three days, the participants had also the opportunity to visit Cazorla, its main monuments and the castle with a guided visit together with the partners of the project.
They also met the Major of Cazorla who describe all the interesting initiatives that take place in the Municipality.

The Partners will meet again on the 24th, 25th and 26th of October 2022 for the next Transnational meeting that will be held in Faro (Portugal).
