From September 23 to 30, CEIPES ETS celebrated the European Week of Sport 2024, engaging participants in a series of dynamic events in Palermo aimed at promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. The initiative brought together various local sports organizations to host inclusive activities for everyone.
One of the standout events was “Football for All: United on the Field,” a mixed social football match organized under the KTM and CICEE-T projects, in collaboration with “Insieme per lo sport”. This event emphasized inclusion and integration through sports, gathering migrants, men, women, and people with disabilities in an atmosphere of solidarity and mutual respect. Participants enjoyed the opportunity to break down social and cultural barriers while using football as a tool to combat violence and discrimination.
On September 24, CEIPES hosted an afternoon dedicated to sport and social inclusion, featuring Karate and Aikido sessions led by experienced instructors. Attendees learned about the Agisec project, which focuses on inclusive and ecological sports. This event aimed to harness the power of sports for personal development, enhancing skills such as effective communication, problem-solving, and leadership.
The following day, a workshop titled “Transversal Skills for Success” took place, targeting sports instructors and coaches. This session aimed to bridge the gap between sports and professional environments, providing practical methods to instill essential skills in athletes and young people. The workshop also offered networking opportunities with industry leaders.
On September 26, the “Green Tick vs Fake News” event took place at the Istituto Comprensivo Maredolce. This unique workshop, featuring psychologists and social media experts, addressed misinformation surrounding sports and healthy living. Participants engaged in discussions and interactive games, collaboratively creating social media content to combat fake news.
Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the events’ success in fostering community engagement and promoting an active lifestyle.
