Are you an artisan? Do you work with a wide variety of materials (wood, cork, textiles, plaster, leather, plastic, clay, leather, cardboard, ink, glass or much more)? Do you have experience with re-use techniques or would you like to learn more about environmental sustainability and the circular economy? Would you like to introduce your processing techniques and participate in a totally free training in Portugal? Do you live in Palermo or in the province of Palermo? Then this call for the E-Crafts project is right for you!

E-Crafts is a project co-funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme KA2, Cooperation for innovation and exchange of good practices – KA227 – Partnership for creativity. The project is multidimensional: its artistic and social dimension intersects with the environmental dimension, in an exercise of creativity and originality. E-Crafts stems from the need to develop and implement UpCycling activities, i.e. to give a new and better purpose to a material that would otherwise be discarded, without degrading its quality and composition. The upcycled art movement is a critique of excessive consumerism and environmental pollution. The focus is on going beyond the concept of conventional recycling, creating objects with social, cultural and economic value.

The aim of the project is to use art and traditional knowledge as a means to:

– promote social inclusion;

– enhance the local artistic and cultural heritage;

– increase skills;

– promote personal well-being.

At this point you may be wondering what your role will be? The techniques and knowledge you possess in working with specific materials will be shared and tested with a group of craftspeople* from the two partner countries of the project (Spain and Portugal) in a context of intercultural and intergenerational exchange, against the backdrop of the wonderful beauty of Portugal. You will have the opportunity to stay in Portugal for 5 days in November, taking part in training activities and meeting other craftspeople. And that’s not all, your crafting technique will be part of a handbook and a series of DIY videos, along with 18 other carefully selected techniques.

Portugal is waiting for you! Fill in this form and we will contact you.
