The project DIME – Diversity Management and Inclusive Employment for Ethnic minorities and migrants in SMEs and NGOs – is funded by the REC – Rights, Equality and Citizenship programme, and is inspired by the aim of promoting the employment inclusion of migrants, refugees and ethnic minorities in host countries. The project involves 4 partners from 4 different countries: the coordinator Know and Can (Bulgaria), CEIPES (Italy), Helsinki Business College (Finland) and MIR Akademien (Sweden).

On March 22, 2021, thanks to the DIME project, CEIPES organized the first focus group of the project. This first activity was a necessary step to create a network consisting of relevant local associations, organizations and small/medium-sized companies. Moreover, this focus group offered the possibility to have feedback from employers and this was the actual turning point of the project for the development of training activities. The focus group was necessary in order to be able to analyze how the job inclusion of people with migrant background takes place.

The meeting was attended by 10 different guests belonging to NGOs (non-governmental organizations) and entrepreneurs from different sectors. Their contribution was indeed useful to understand which policies are used and the barriers that are encountered in this path of inclusion. The focus group, which lasted about three hours, saw an extensive discussion that stemmed from 6 broad questions, used by all Consortium partners with the aim of being able to make a subsequent comparison with other European countries.

This work was essential in order to be able to draw up the national report on diversity management in the workplace, considering the employers’ point of view.

This activity, replicated in the four countries of the project partners, aims to create a comparative analysis of the four countries of the Consortium. The results of the research, which are anonymous, will allow the drafting of a comparative paper that will later be published by the University of London, one of the most important stakeholders in the project and that will be available to anyone who wants to have more answers on the subject.

CEIPES is now working on the national report. Don’t miss further news on the topic, following our channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
