D3PO – The Training Activity for 3D printers and 3D modelling
On 18th of July 2022 the consortium of the D3PO project (2021-1-ES01-KA220-ADU-000035313), Erasmus+ KA202, met in Palermo for the First Learning Training Teaching Activity with the main objective of better understanding 3D modelling and 3D printing technology.
The first appointments with consortium partners, from Spain, Greece and Portugal, focused on the introduction of the 3D printer and the various types of technology.
Discovering that there are various types of printers such as, Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) with which you can print through PLA filaments, ABS etc. Another 3D printer with which you can print with the resin material is the Stereolithography (SLA), with some disadvantages such as being more expensive and perhaps not affordable for everyone. That’s why even the entire consortium recommends using an FDM to print the puzzles of the project.
In addition, thanks to the experienced partner CETEM, the consortium was able to experiment with 3D modelling. Participants started modelling simple shapes, so they could get to know and become familiar with the 3D modelling program.
From the feedback received from all participants, this has been very successful to be able to practice modelling. Because each partner is responsible for modelling 2 puzzles. In fact, during the training each organization presented its own idea of puzzle with its own idea of storytelling. Some partners have been inspired by local city stories, while others will focus on well-known stories from movies or famous places, such as the “Taj mahal” and the skyscrapers in New York.
Fortunately, during the training it was useful to talk and better specify the target groups to which the puzzle will be addressed. So, the consortium can reach people with different needs and give them the opportunity to use a new tool within their therapy.
The last day of training was dedicated to the visit to the Fablab of Palermo, is a HUB (centre) of union for makers, artisans, geeks, hobbyists or simple curious and passionate. Fablab Palermo is active on the territory in order to move from the idea to the object according to the principles of open peer to peer design or open source, all animated by the will of those who share principles, ideas, methodologies and techniques within this global network of creativity and innovation.
LTTA held in Palermo was a success because it laid a solid foundation to start working on great results.
The participants greeted themselves with the next appointment the second part of the training to be held in Spain at the headquarters of the partner CETEM, in Yecla.
