The assessment tools of chess skills of deaf people

CHED – Chess platform for deaf people” is a KA2 Erasmus+ project (project number: 613577-EPP-1-2019-1-RO-SPO-SCP) is a project born to meet the European need of promoting the inclusion of deaf people in chess, as well as to contrast the lack of accessibility in this field and, generally, in sport.  

Another important objective is the increasement of self-confidence of deaf people. That’s also why it’s expected to have assessment and validation of the skills developed through the non-formal chess courses, allowing to get a symbolic certificate. The expected impact is at local, national and international level. Besides, the creation of opportunities can increase the confidence in personal possibilities, chances to participate in national and international competitions, the desire to progress and to become a trainer.  

As the previous material developed, such as the training scenarios, the curriculum and the lists of skills, the assessment instruments have been elaborated according to the different training levels: initiation, basic, intermediate and advanced. Click on the results names to read more!  

As part of the platform, the assessment will be available before and after each module, as final instrument to measure the skills obtained by the learners. Besides, part of this assessment is the pilot of the online learning courses and the evaluation of all the material developed, among which the utility, consistence and relevance of the report regarding the current situation of the access to sport and to chess.
