CEIPES participated to the conference “School Freedom COSTITUTION” in Palermo

CEIPES participated to the conference hosted by the Instituto Siciliano Gramsci, “School Freedom COSTITUTION”, on the 16th March 2023, promoted together with the ANPI.

The event has been a great opportunity for CEIPES to have an attentive ear to the debates of the local and national community, as a matter of fact through its projects it aims to make a creative contribution and an extra opportunity to them.

The speakers at the event were Fausto Clemente, A.N.P.I. Palermo secretariat, Maria Concetta Sala

Udipalermo Women’s Library and Pietro Maltese, UNIPA pedagogy lecturer. The event was coordinated by Salvatore Nicosia, President of the Sicilian Gramsci Institute.

The speeches of Clemente and Maltese focused on the constitution and the constitution debate to draw attention to the intentions of the constituents, citing among others Article 33 ‘Art and science are free and free is the teaching of them […]’, comparing them with the drifts that the various school reforms have been bringing since the 1990s.

The speech by Professor Sala, Women’s Libraries, dealt with the pedagogy of attention, quoting Simone Weil and the faculty of attention, the need to develop it as the real object and almost the sole interest of studies that needs to be bring at the core of the discourse.

CEIPES develops many projects with schools and for schools, so it is attentive to their needs and brings a voice to their demands.
