European Solidarity Corps ESC
Hosting Organization: Associação Azes Valboenses, IAIRS.
Venue: Valbom, Gondomar, Portugal; Lublin, Poland.
When: ASAP till October 2022, for 2 months.
Requirements: 18-30 yo, Speaking English.

The C.R.E. project intends to face the increasing level of youth marginalization by promoting empowerment and active citizenship through non-formal education, addressing the need for inclusive societies in Europe where young people can take action and contribute to their growth and well-being of the community.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION 

Depending on their profile and interests, the volunteers will be involved in different tasks, including logistic help during international and local projects. 

Activities in Poland will include: Participation in local social events; supporting IAiRS daily works in and out of the office; IAiRS promotion (updating the website, Facebook, Instagram); Leading language classes, game evenings, volunteers meetings, integration events, outdoor activities, artistic workshops (theater in particular); share their ideas/projects. 

Activities in Portugal will include: organization of events to encourage the participation of young people; co-hosting and organization of language classes, debates, cine-forums, exhibitions, and workshops facilitated by volunteers; implementation of Erasmus+(KA1) projects; taking care of a sustainable farm; development of the website, communication, and fundraising strategy of the organization; creating content to promote events and activities on social media; helping with projects aimed at reducing food waste among the local community and recovering the historical heritage in Gondomar. 

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD, AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS 

The project covers: travel expenses up to 275.00€, food and accommodation; all the fees for visa and residence permit; insurance (health, accident, and liability insurance). 

Poland – Volunteers will be accommodated in single rooms with private bathrooms in the student residence. Transport by plane: The nearest Airport is Lublin LUZ Warsaw Chopin – 177 km from Lublin Warsaw Modlin – 210 km from Lublin Rzeszów Jasionka – 150 km from Lublin. By bus: PKS, Flixbus, Eurolines, BPtour, Contbus etc. By train: the main railway station is Lublin Główny. 

Portugal – Participants will be staying on the upper floor of the headquarters of the organization, located in Valbom, part of Gondomar. There are two rooms for 2 and 3 people each. That won’t necessarily mean we will have 5 volunteers at the same time, but there might be the possibility that participants will be sharing the room with other volunteers. 

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY 

Topics: promotion of active citizenship; youth empowerment; social inclusion; community development through non-formal education activities; workshops about intercultural education and active citizenship, with non-formal methods; promotion of human rights; building up methods and techniques for intercultural learning; local language courses (Polish or Portuguese); OLS–Online Linguistic Support; awareness campaigns on the issues of social inclusion; implementation of project ideas. 

PARTICIPANT PROFILE 

We are looking for 2 participants from Italy, aged between 18 and 30 years old, with migratory background (mandatory).

Also required: strong motivation, and connection with the values of peace, non-violence, equal opportunities, human rights, and environmental sustainability. Motivated to support the activities of the association, from the logistic tasks to the facilitation of group dynamics; interested to learn about new cultures and exchange of experiences; available to attend the follow-up phase.
