ACT 4 INCLUSION – Life in theatre (project number: 2020-1-PT01-KA204-078581)

is a project aimed to extend and to develop the educators’ competences through the use of skills related with the use of social improvisation theatre. The idea is to increase the level of the quality in the pedagogical methods and to have a wider number of methodologies to be used with people with special needs.

Fundamental belief of this project is that non-formal education spaces with a methodology developed through theatre settings will generate personal tools to offer significant results in the case of anxiety disorders, depression, low self-esteem and social isolation.

From the 11th to the 15th of October, the first LTTA (Learning, Teaching, Training Activities) took place in the frame of this project. The activities were hosted in Porto, in the charming Youth Center “Quinta S. Joao Bosco”, owned and managed by Salesian Priests: a place surrounded by wide, green spaces.

The training program was designed in order to bring experiences from participants, creating a space of discussion, and allowing the co-construction of knowledge. In this occasion, the activities to be collected in the manual for trainers were presented and tested by the members of each organization.

Part of the training was conducted by the Portuguese theatre group Palmilha Dentada, which has worked in the field of improvisation theatre for social inclusion since 2001.

Moreover, the conclusion of the first intellectual output was discussed, as well as the opening of the second one which implies the creation of a boardgame designed for different target groups.
