The 29th and the 30th of January 2020 in Dusseldorf, Germany, CEIPES attended the Kick-off Meeting for the ACPD – Access to Caretaking Professions for Deaf funded by Erasmus Plus Program

The strategic aim of our project is to strengthen the employability ofdeaf and hard of hearing people throughout Europe in the area of nursing and elderly care.

The Kick-off Meeting represented a great opportunity to reflect on how to implement this kind of exchange of good practices and to learn all the partners involved.

The day was set up according to a clear agenda, the overall project was presented by the coordinator in its activities, responsibilities and time schedule. The partners involved in the project explained in detail all activities leaded by each of them.

The visit to the Osnabrueck “VET Center for the deaf and hard of hearing persons” school in Osnabruck was an opportunity to start gathering information on this topic. In fact, this special school is a state-of-the-art in the VET area and allows training courses to be provided, including in the healthcare sector (caretaking), in order to introduce them to the world of work.

It is estimated that all students, once they graduate from this school, manage to obtain a job in the field of education, thanks above all to the internship opportunities offered by schools in collaboration with companies and structures.

At the moment the partnership is working on the creation of a brand identity and communication channels that will allow everyone to keep up to date on the next steps of the project.
