On 20 and 21 February 2020, CEIPES staff took part in the Kick Off Meeting (KOM) of a new Erasmus Plus Sport – Small Collaborative Partnership project: IRTS – Integration of Refugees Through Sport.

The meeting took place in Sorgun (Turkey) and was hosted by the coordinator of the project SORGED – SORGUN GENCLIK DERNEGI.
The meeting was an opportunity for the consortium to get to better know each other and create a team that will work on the implementation of the project.

The two days were organized according to a specific programme proposed by the coordinator: after the presentations of each organization and of the people responsible for managing the project, the objectives and the individual activities were illustrated, the tasks that each partner will have to carry out during this first collaboration period and the methods of communication within the consortium were discussed in depth.

The partnership also had the opportunity to visit a school and university to raise students’ awareness of the project’s theme and to open a comparison with other realities.

The main aim of the “Integration of Refugees Through Sport” project is to promote social inclusion and equal opportunities for all through sport, as well as to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity for the benefit of health by contributing to development of a European dimension of sport.

The consortium has already agreed on the dates of the next international meeting which will take place in Murcia (Spain) in June 2020.
