On 23 November 2023, the members of the Digi-Helicon project consortium met in Leiden, the Netherlands, hosted by the partner organisation DFW2W (Dutch Foundation of Innovation Welfare 2 Work).
Indeed, the implementation and completion of all activities of the second work-package, concerning the creation of a methodology for the creation of an online digital skills course for artists and aspiring artists, has just finished.
In fact, during the first project activities, a mapping of current and future needs, trends, and skills gaps was carried out. Subsequently, best practices and case studies were analysed in the various countries involved in the partnership. Finally, on the basis of the previous activities, a Capacity building methodological framework was developed.
This methodology, the main output of the second Work-package, constitutes the conceptual and pedagogical basis on which the Online Course, its modules and the way it will be used by the artists will be built.
The main aim of the project indeed, is to empower current and aspiring artists, and especially a focus on women and on those from vulnerable groups such as migrants, long term unemployed, LGBTQI+ and people with disabilities. Through the development of their digital skills and competences, the project intends to facilitate their access to the labour market and fostering their resilience in a digitally transformed post-COVID-19 socio-cultural context.
To this end, the next implementation phases will therefore focus on the development of the online course, which will comprise several educational modules on different aspects of the digital world useful for artists to disseminate and market their works, tangible and intangible.
In this sense, this online course will be organised around a few main themes, which will in turn be structured into several chapters. So, these topics are: first, the promotion of artwork digitally and developing your audience using social media & platforms. The second thematic addressed will be the selling and making legal profit digitally from artistic work and services using social media, apps and platforms. Then, it will be deepen the digital communication to reach out to the public through social media. Last, but not least, the course will explore how to attract and approach sponsors digitally and sponsorships’ management.
In conclusion, the DigiHelicon project proceeds with its activities in pursuit of its overall objectives through the coordinated and participative action of the entire partnership.
