*** ENGLISH VERSION ***

On May 23, at the association Uniamoci ONLUS, in via Giafar nº36 (Palermo), took place the first training session for the project “Palermo Green”. The first part was focused on the possibility for the volunteers getting to know each other; each of them presented themselves to the group, giving general information and explaining the reason why they had decided to participate to the project.

A heterogeneous group emerged, people of different ages, with a different education, but with the same enthusiasm to make a contribution to the care of the city and to the dissemination of the principles of volunteering and inclusive behaviour. Then, there was a reflection session about the idea that everyone had about volunteering, bringing out the sharing of many aspects of the item, such as altruism, will, solidarity and group work.

In the second part of the training session, the project was presented, specially the first area: the cleaning of the streets. They exposed the ways in which this phase will take place and, through the slides, the volunteers could see all the information they needed: behavioral notions, environmental and cross-risk factors, guide lines about using the equipment provided.

The second meeting, held on May 25, had the purpose of creating the group of volunteers. Initially, the issues of the first were summarized for those who had not been and there was a phase of acquaintance with the other volunteers.

This meeting was focused on group work: divided into three different groups, the volunteers had a different task. Each group, through collaboration and sharing ideas, had to reach the objective.

Through slogan, commercials, chart of the values of the volunteers, but also laughing and sharing, the meeting ended with a group picture: a varied group, different personalities but with the same will to make their own contribution to improve the image of the city and to try to involve all citizens, because not to dirty… is not enough!
