Europe for Citizenship

Dear friends,

CEIPES is developing a new project proposal in the framework of CALL FOR PROPOSAL UNDER Europe For Citizens and looking for partner organisations to develop project activities.

CEIPES is a non-profit international organization active in European fields, with seats in 4 European countries – Italy, Portugal, Turkey and Belgium. CEIPES works at European, International and local level coordinates CEIPES Network from divers municipality of Sicily region, Palermo Provincial Directorate for National Education, secondary schools, University of Palermo; CUD-University Center for the Disabilities, ETHOS Department of the Faculty of Training Sciences of the University of Palermo, IAL CISL SICILIA (Coordination of Regional and professional Education Services), FLTLAB (ICT And Innovation) and also other private and public institutions (Adult Education Centers) in Sicily. The aim of this network is to foster cooperation at local level and to facilitate access to European level opportunities, such as learning mobility and European cooperation.

The main purpose of CEIPES  is to promote the Education and Development of young people and adults through activities in education, training, culture, nonviolence, interculturality, solidarity, human rights, active citizenship, international cooperation, and promote services thus contributing to human and civil growth at individual, community and world levels.

The mission of CEIPES is to foster and support the sustainable development of local communities and individuals’ empowerment through education and training, human rights and international cooperation.

Project Proosal Details

Summary

The main purpose of the project is to promote a reflection and increasing on the active participation of senior EU citizens and their role in strengthening democratic processes. It will be reached by exchanging experiences and discussing democracy issues in a residential seminar, creating a video on the topic of democracy and senior citizens, developing a network to debate democracy issues and disseminating materials (DVD and brochure).
After the project participants will be asked to make policy meetings in their local communities in order to put in practice their democratic skills. A network for sharing experiences of democratic process will be created. Also a web page of the project will be created, where, besides the information about the project and project materials, an interactive game will be available for testing knowledge about democratic processes and improving understanding of the topic.
Coinciding with the European Year of Active Aging,  the  participants will be seniors from 10 different countries, together with young people aged in 18-30. This way the project will promote a dialogue between generations and will permit to have different perspectives on the themes of the project.
As project activities will be held in English, it will help participants to improve their foreign language skills, thus  coinciding with one of the EU priorities mentioned in the strategy “Europe 2020” – multilingualism.
The objectives of the project are:
1. To promote the idea and importance of active participation of senior citizens;
2. To foster intercultural learning and facilitate intercultural dialogue;
3. To facilitate exchange of experiences and good practice on seniors’ participation;
4. To promote senior citizens active participation in democratic processes;
5. To encourage and strengthen dialogue between generations;
6. To create informative and educational material on a topic of democracy and active participation.

Details

The objectives of the project are:

1. To promote the idea of active participation indemocratic proccesses;

2. To foster intercultural learning and facilitate intercultural dialogue;

3. To initiate exchange of experiences on democracy issue between people of different national backgrounds;

4. To activate the dialogue between generations;

5. To create an informative and educational material on a topic of democracy for secondary school students.

Costs

– 30% of the travel costs – Activities, board and lodging as well as 70% of the travel costs are covered by the grant of the European Commission.
