Educational dimension:

The training aims at dealing with gender discrimination and inequality. Furthermore, the project will provide the participants with a “gender lens” and will encourage the participants to develop a gender-sensitive approach in youth work. The main focus of the training course will be on the role of young people and of grassroots youthwork initiatives in raising local communities’ awareness of gender issues. In addition, attention will be paid to other social inclusion issues such as  ethnicity (specifically regarding Roma minorities) as these issues are often closely interlinked with gender inequalities and discrimination.

The training will take place in the week of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November). As a final product of the training course, the participants will write articles for publication in a local or national newspaper or magazine. The articles will serve to increase the visibility and outreach of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, as well as of the training course and the Youth in Action Programme.

Non-formal educational tools, such as peer-to-peer learning, workshops, participants’ presentations, simulations and exercises will be integral parts of the project.
